The mechanical detection of linear movement is done by a guided or free cursor, in which magnets are casted in sealing compound. In the IP65 sealed housing the magentostrictive sensor element with the compact printed coil technology and the electronic runtime measurement are integrated. The position evaluation of the magnetic cursor is transformed contactless into a linear analog signal 0,1..10,1 V or 4..20 mA. The magnetostrictive measurement principle is true power on with high sample rates up to 1 ms and delivers absolute values in high accuracy. A special feature of the magnetostrictive method is the great tolerance in mechanical offset up to ±2 mm in vertically and horizontally position of the free magnetic cursor. This permits applications with critical shock or vibration influences.
