Motogard Over-Temperature Protection Systems provide immediate overheating protection for: motors, equipment enclosures, semiconductor heat sinks, sleeve bearings, and other related machinery. All Motogard systems fully conform to the NEC requirements for integral motor thermal protection. Using Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) thermistors embedded in or in contact with the surface, the Motogard system is able to continually sense when the equipment exceeds the pre-selected temperature limits.

The Electro-Thrust Shoe Brakes have been in service for over 10 years. AISE sizes range from 8 inches in diameter up to 30 inch diameter  wheels. Torque values range from 100 foot-pounds to 9,000  ft./lbs.! We also manufacture a line of non-AISE rated brakes. The brakes are spring set for fail-safe operation with an electro-hydraulic actuator that overcomes a setting spring and releases the brake. The actuator is stroked by means of applying power, either AC or DC, to an integral motor attached to a twin cavity housing. The housing is filled with fluid and as the motor spins it creates fluid motion. As the fluid travels through the housing it applies upward pressure to a piston that overcomes the setting spring to release the brake. Cutting power to the motor reverses this function and the spring then gently sets the brake.

The hydraulic shoe brakes are spring released and hydraulically set for controlled stopping.  Applications such as indoor and outdoor bridge cranes are just some of the examples. These proven high performance brake systems are tough, reliable and provide trouble free service. Brake wheel sizes ranging from 6 inches to 18 inches are available. Brakes are available either with standard hydraulic setting, setting with parking feature or with air powered hydraulic operation. The powered systems may be direct or remote controlled. Air remote control, hydraulic remote control, and electric remote control allow the customer the flexibility to satisfy most requirements.

The magnetic DC shoe brakes are spring set and electrically released. The brake is set when 230 VDC power is removed from the brakes coil(s). The type TM brakes electrical mechanism consists of one or two DC magnets. As power is introduced to the coils it creates an electro-magnetic field that brings the coils together to release the brake. Cutting power to the coils allows the spring to extend back to its normal state and sets the brake.  Shunt or series coils are available and rated for continuous or intermittent duty ratings. We also offer single point adjustment on brakes 8 inches in wheel diameter or larger. This speeds up the brake installation and shoe lining wear adjustment by a single point adjusting feature.  Brake wheel diameters of 41/2" to 30" are available, and are AISE rated.   Rectifiers are available for AC operation. 

The solenoid AC shoe brakes are spring set and electrically released. The brake is set when power is removed from the brake solenoid assembly. Solenoid assemblies can be powered by 115 VAC thru 575 VAC, single phase. Brake wheel diameters ranging from 4 1/2 inches to 10 inches are available.

Intrinsically Safe LDT - The 950IS is an intrinsically safe analog system.  The system uses a remote transmitter mounted in a safe area wired through intrinsically safe barriers to the LDT, which may be mounted in a hazardous area.  The term 'Intrinsically Safe' pertains to a device's inability to produce an electrical spark of enough significance to cause ignition. This system incorporates circuitry that is U.L. listed for use in Class I, Groups C and D, Class II, Groups E, F and G, and Class III hazardous locations.     

Mill Duty Housing -The Gemco 950MD Mill-Duty Housing is a stainless steel housing designed to protect LDTs in harsh or high temperature environments such as those found in heavy industrial plants and processes. In addition, it is also used where Nema 4 protection is required or where mounting limitations exist.

Quik-Stik II LDT -The Series 951 Quik-Stik II is a high accuracy, high-speed “rod style” non-contact linear transducer, available in stroke lengths up to 300". The series 925 Linear Cable Reel Sensor can be used in any linear application up to 1200 inches. The system consists of a heavy-duty spring motor assembly attached to a precision machined cable drum. As the cable is pulled off of the precision drum, the drum rotates a shaft connected to it. The shaft is precisely geared such that the full number of revolutions of the drum is equal to the appropriate number of revolutions required by the chosen sensor. The Series 1970 Drive-chek is a multi-purpose sub-base that is mounted under a chain or belt driven mechanism. The unit serves three purposes; namely, a broken chain or belt detector, a chain or belt tightener, and a shock and vibration isolator.

The Series 1980 Micro-Adjust Rotating Cam Limit Switch is a pilot device used for heavy duty material handling mechanisms, mechanical presses, packaging machines, rotary tables, and in many other applications where repetitive and sequential operations are required in control circuitry. When motion is expressed in shaft rotation, either thru a roller chain, gear train, or directly, the Rotating Cam Limit Switch makes it possible to open or close independent circuits at any desired angular positions. The Series 1980 is available in NEMA 1, NEMA 4 & 5, NEMA 7, NEMA 9, and NEMA 12 enclosures.  The units can be ordered with 2 to 40 circuits.

The Series 1980R combines a resolver based signal off of the existing camshaft. Many press operations are now being fitted with automation equipment that requires limit switch outputs. The Series 1986MD with Mill-Duty Housing is designed for harsh environments where a standard resolver would normally be destroyed. It has a ¼” (6.35 mm) plate steel construction and jackshaft input to drive resolvers, encoders, tach generators or any combination. Also, an air purge fitting for positive pressure or cooling. The Series 2000 Rotary Limit Switch is primarily used for machine tools, handling devices, and rotary operators where motion is expressed in shaft rotation. The primary purpose of the switch is to control the intermediate or end limits of a linear or rotary motion. The Series 2006 K Type Rotary Limit Switch is designed to control the limits of travel of rotating reversing equipment. This switch can be used in applications requiring ratios from 5:1 to 1080:1 and is available in two and four circuits.
