The IPC Series are industrial power conditioners, intended for use in the bypass path of an industrial Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system or as a stand-alone system. Each unit integrates a precision line voltage regulator and a shielded isolation transformer in a single system enclosure.

The IPC units integrate a precision line voltage regulator and a shielded isolation transformer in a single system enclosure. These products ensure the cleanest possible power to the intended supply.

AMETEK Solidstate Controls has developed a variety of products to ensure the cleanest possible power to the intended supply, a few of those products can be found here, in the IPC and the ISL.

The ISL Series Ferroresonant regulating transformers are housed in a single system enclosure. These units are designed to accept a widely varying filtered AC output. ISL Series units have a unique characteristic of being short-circuit protected so that overloads and short circuits on the secondary side are not reflected back to the primary.

The Digital Battery Chargers (DCR) from AMETEK Solidstate Controls are thyristor-based systems. They are designed for high efficiency conversion of incoming commercial AC to DC power for charging batteries, while supplying power to continuous DC loads, such as inverters.

This solid-state design utilizes SCR phase control to provide regulated DC output and limited current via a smoothing filter. Our DCRs can operate with or without batteries. The Battery Charger is intended for use in UPS systems, as well as a stand-alone device for battery-charging-only applications.

Solidstate Controls’ RS Series Remote Manual Bypass Switch (RMBS) is a 3-position switch that allows for complete isolation of a UPS or inverter perform routine or emergency maintenance on the equipment.

The load is temporarily transferred from the inverter (UPS) onto the bypass (alternate) AC power source. This “make-before-break” switch is designed to transfer between two in-sync sources to enable a zero-break transfer in both directions, so there is no disruption of power to the connected load(s).

Our RMBS-T option has all the benefits and features of the RMBS, but includes an isolation transformer which isolates the bypass supply. Introducing the new series of Fusible Panelboards (FPB) from AMETEK Solidstate Controls. Designed especially for critical power distribution in UPS and inverter applications, these panelboards offer the most reliable method of ensuring that one faulted circuit will not cause any adverse effects on any other branches.

AMETEK Solidstate Controls ⇒ Ripple Choke Filters

Ripple Choke Filters Help Reduce the AC Ripple Current

Our Ripple Choke Filters are designed to help reduce the AC ripple current kickback that exists in battery chargers, inverters and Uninterruptible Power Supply systems. This will help your batteries last longer, spare sensitive electronics the deterioration an excessive ripple current can cause and reduce electrical noise.

As your system ages, an induced AC ripple current and voltage may appear on the DC bus between the battery system and UPS. Over time this may result in the deterioration of the capacitors and other components of your UPS. Battery manufactures suggest that excessive AC ripple current on the DC bus can adversely affect the line and performance of batteries. Typically the AC ripple current on the DC bus should not exceed 5% of the amp hour rating of the batteries.

We recommend regularly scheduled preventative maintenance, including a 10-year PM (PM 10), which will replace the DC capacitors and mitigate the AC ripple. If the replacement of DC capacitors does not reduce the AC ripple current to the desired level, then a Ripple Current Filter should be installed to help further reduce the ripple.
