ATOMS SAM results of the merger between two companies, MICRO (established in 1936 by a member of MICHELIN family) and A.T.O.M.S.* (established in 1946 and producer of reflex cameras). Further to this merger, in 1986, ATOMS SAM has settled in Monaco’s Principality and has progressively moved towards Aerospace, Defense, Military and Railway markets.

In 1992, ATOMS SAM has been taken over by a new shareholder (a family owned French Company) and has since then acquired new technological bricks and focused on complex and innovative electro-mechanical systems.

ATOMS is a French, EN9100 and IRIS certified, designer, developer and manufacturer of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for Military and Railway rugged applications where we are used to provide products that are compliant with military standards (MIL) and SIL requirements (experience up to SIL3).

We own the design of many off-the-shelf products that we are free to sell to anyone at a very competitive price (amortization of investments already made) in a short delivery time (development, sourcing and qualification already completed). Further, we have developed standard modular products to ensure the best possible compromise between cost-effectiveness, reliability and delivery time. Those modular products are available with many optional functions that we have also standardized.

ATOMS has taken over the know-how of its former sister company, MCB Industrie, who was in the 80’s one of the few companies in the world capable to design and manufacture high precision optical encoders for highly demanding environments as military, space and industrial (robotics and off-shore).

Today, we still develop and manufacture such rotary optical encoders, mainly for military and robotics applications as well as for our own integration into our HMI systems.

However we have a wide range of off-the-shelf rotary optical encoders (Single Turn and Multi Turn absolute as well as Incremental encoders, with round or rectangle metal housings), we are still ready to propose custom solution to support our customers.

At last but not least, we can propose you our assistance to refurbish or completely manufacture most of MCB Industrie former range of rotary optical encoders

Our single turn optical encoders feature a high resolution (up to 16 bits) with compact housing dimensions.

• Higher resolution is possible on demand and depending on the speed requirements,
• Available in Round metal housing in 27, 30, 58 and 100 mm and redundancy as an option,
• Available in Rectangle metal housing (40 x 60 mm) that can be stacked for redundancy as an option,
