What does a remote control set include?
Transmitting Unit
Used by the operator to remotely control a device, can be either a hand-held controller or a joystick console depending on the application. |
Receiving Unit
Usually installed near or inside the electrical panel of the controlled machine. It receives the signals sent by the transmitter and interprets the commands they contain in order to drive the control signals to the machine - which may be analogue or discrete. |
What makes an AUTEC remote control safer?
AUTEC Remote Controls are "Fail Safe" - safety functions are available at all times even in the event of a Remote Control's failure. With any one fault present, the system will still STOP when commanded - this is true of all AUTEC controllers, and some boast even higher levels of protection against faults.
Each AUTEC system is fitted with a pair of uniquely serial-numbered hardware keys - one in the transmitter and one in the receiver - so that only the matching receiver will respond to a transmitter's commands, even if other systems are inadvertently operated on the same frequency. This prevents any intentional tampering or accidental errors that are possible with systems from other manufacturers using DIP switches or software for programming.
What are the differences between a pendant cable control and a AUTEC Remote Control ?
A Remote Control may be installed as standard equipment on many machines, or can be installed at a later stage to replace a pendant cable control or fixed control panel. The machine operator becomes more efficient - his work faster and more accurate. The operator can choose the best and safety position from which to control the machine, free from the restrictions of cables, and heavy pendants.
Here are more benefits from the use of Remote Controls:
PENDANT CABLE CONTROL
|
RADIO REMOTE CONTROL

The operator is hindered in his work by the cable that tethers him to the machine, and all objects that lie between.
|
The operator, free of cables, can focus exclusively on the load. |
The limited cable length may prevent the operator from being in visual contact with the load. Often, another employee is required - increasing both the cost, and the risk of a safety incident due to miscommunication. |
The operator can choose the best position and is able to carry out tasks that would otherwise require another employee. |
In the case of machines operating near overhead or underground power lines, the cable of the pendant controller exposes the operator to electric shock should the machine become live. |
Cordless controllers electrically isolate the operator from the controlled machine. The transmitter is powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts for more than a work shift. |
