The core competency of Elmos is the development, production, and sale of mixed-signal semiconductors. Mixed-signal semiconductors represent the intelligence in an electronic system. Among other things, our components evaluate sensor data and convert this analogue information into digital values. Only then can the sensor data be analysed and recorded precisely. With regard to vehicles, this means that a mixed-signal chip makes sense wherever analysis and switching takes place. Thus an integrated sensor can, for example, detect and analyse the rotational speed, acceleration, inclination angle, pressure, or even light. Numerous application opportunities also exist in industrial and consumer goods applications, for example in motion detectors, gesture and movement recognition, smoke detectors, or products with electric motors.

PSI5 is an open standard for bidirectional digital sensor data communication in vehicles.
Compared to analog options, this solution has advantages particularly with respect to robustness, reliability, and costs.

All members of the Elmos KNX family can be used as bit transceivers in analogue mode if required.
The two family members E981.03 and E981.23 feature a TP-UART-compatible protocol with up to 115kBaud.
The E981.33 functions only as a bit transceiver. With the E981.03, an SPI for configuration and diagnosis is available in addition.
All family members have an integrated DC/DC voltage regulator that supplies either 5 or 3.3 volts. All of them also have a linear voltage regulator for 20V/25mA.

Our DC DC Converter family contains all the functions needed to create a wide range switch power supply with several output voltages,
whereby the supply voltages can be lower or higher than the output voltages.
With Elmos’s switching regulator families, developed in high-voltage CMOS technology,
the smooth transition between the different electrical system voltages (14V, 28V, 42V) in the vehicle is facilitated.
The small quiescent current and the wide operating voltage and temperature range mean that the components are also of interest in a variety of other applications.

Motor Control _ Stepper Motor
The Elmos Stepper Motor control ICs increase efficiency and give you full control over the application. Furthermore Elmos offers unique features like stall detection:
During the operation of a stepper motor, characteristic current and voltage profiles occur with each succeeding step, allowing a conclusion about the motor’s operating status.
By recording and analyzing these signals, sensorless detection of a motor stall is possible. Elmos has the competence to integrate this function into ICs.

Sensor _ SSP: Sensor Signal Processor for Resistive Bridges
The Elmos SSPs are suitable for numerous automotive applications. Pressure, torque and related physical parameters can be measured with resistive MEMS, ceramic or metal film measuring bridges.
The ICs feature a broad adjustment range, straightforward calibration via a serial input/output (SIO) for the entire system and extensive configuration options.
They also have comprehensive, integrated self-test functions and are highly robust against overvoltage, especially for automotive applications.

Sensor _ HALIOS®
The High Ambient Light Independent Optical System (HALIOS®) is based on a compensation principle similar to an optical bridge.
The high sensitivity resulting from this enables the detection of gestures (e.g. movement of a finger or hand) without the use of mechanical elements.
The integrated circuit (IC) prepares the signals based on optical reflections to objects to be detected and therefore, allows concluding the position of the object in all three directions in space to the sensor.

With the E520.30, Elmos presents a fully programmable platform for an optical smoke detector with a bus interface.
The analog, addressable integrated circuit needs just a minimum of external components for setting up the complete system.
The E520.30 is a high current driver for the transmitter LED and a high impedance input to voltage conversion of the receiver diode.
