Due to their torsional flexibility, Flender N-EUPEX couplings can move critical torsional vibrations away from the operating area of mechanical equipment in such a way that no negative effects on the drive train are to be expected. Flender flexible couplings N-EUPEX are made of high-quality cast iron. The flexible elements made of synthetic rubber (Buna-N) are available in different degrees of hardness for many applications.

 

Metal pins and flexible elements are designed so that no wear occurs when they are properly fitted.

Flender N-EUPEX DS Pin Coupling

Flender flexible couplings N-EUPEX DS do not have a fail-safe device, allowing positive disconnection of the input and output side upon failure of the flexible elements due to overload or wear. Then, the metal parts of the DS coupling can rotate freely in opposite directions.

Flender RUPEX Pin and Bush Coupling

Flender flexible couplings RUPEX are used as flexible compensating couplings in all applications requiring a reliable transmission of torque under harsh operating conditions. The conical seats of the buffer pins facilitate mounting and guarantee maintenance-free operation.

 

Robust and proven a million times
The optimized shape of the barreled buffers allows simple plug-in assembly and low circumferential backlash. Many type variants are offered, e.g., with brake disk, axial play limiting device or brake motor couplings.

Flender N-BIPEX Claw Coupling

The coupling portfolios normally found on the market consist of comparable couplings with a maximum permissible torque corresponding to twice the coupling’s nominal torque. To be on the safe side – for example during the run-up phase of an asynchronous motor with typical starting torques and tilting moments – it is often necessary to fall back on the next-largest coupling size.

 

If high rotational speeds or relatively large bores need to be taken into account, the market often offers costly steel solutions. The N-BIPEX copes with just these situations and offers not only higher maximum torques but also an extended range of bores.

With its cast hubs, the Flender N-BIPEX coupling allows greater freedom when designing the cam geometry, thereby laying the foundation for the innovative curved design. Unlike the milled cams typically available on the market, this design results in uniform loading of the elastomer compression bodies under all conditions and, in particular, prevents inward deformation of the cam ring due to load peaks that can cause greater wear.

Hubs made of high-quality nodular cast iron allow the Flender flexible couplings N-BIPEX to cope with high rotational speeds and critical bores. All in all, the N-BIPEX provides reserves that are considerably greater than those normally available on the market, thus achieving a significant reduction in wear.

Flender ARPEX All-Steel Coupling

Flender ARPEX all-steel couplings are very compact and stand out due to their particularly good power-to-weight ratio. Their versatility makes them suitable for universal use. In these flender torsionally rigid couplings, the torque is transmitted by torsionally rigid, flexible disks. The disks are joined together with bushes and rings to form a compact disk pack which ensures easy and reliable installation.

Two disk packs connected to a spacer are capable of compensating for axial, radial and angular shaft misalignments. Couplings with one disk pack can only compensate for angular and axial misalignments.

The ARPEX coupling covers a wide range of products by means of many different series and sizes:

Flender ARPEX ART Turbo Coupling

ARPEX ART high performance couplings consist of pure expertise combined with the greatest possible power density. These Flender torsionally rigid couplings are used in all high-speed drive systems that require torque transfer where shaft misalignment is occurring simultaneously.

 

The ARPEX ART leaves nothing to be desired in terms of both bore capacity and safety: their compact design allows them to compensate for all of the expected misalignments in a very small space and, at the same time, gives them the highest possible torque capacity, the lowest possible weight and a very good center of gravity.

The double-cardan principle used in the ARPEX ART enables very high radial offsets, even under great loads. With thin, individual disks, the reaction forces that occur with shaft misalignments remain relatively low. The disks of the ARPEX ART high-performance coupling consist of high-alloyed stainless spring steel, and all of the other coupling components are made of high- quality, heat-treated steel.

Flender N-ARPEX All-Steel Coupling

Investment costs, lifecycle costs, power-to-weight ratio, fitness for use and the cost of purchasing couplings are key considerations for equipment manufacturers. With the introduction of the new N-ARPEX all-steel multi-disk coupling Flender is continuing the success story of the proven ARPEX series of couplings.

The Flender torsionally rigid couplings N-ARPEX are currently the most powerful couplings on the market due to the consistent further development of the ARPEX – a leap in performance that in this size could only be achieved by means of various design features. With the N-ARPEX, Flender delivers the optimum price-performance ratio.

With our all-steel couplings, the reliable transmission of torque between the shafts to be connected is backlash-free, torsionally rigid and flexurally elastic. This enables these Flender torsionally rigid couplings to compensate for axial, angular and radial misalignment. Our multi-disk couplings are not prone to wear and are maintenance-free.

Flender hydrodynamic couplings

Flender FLUDEX Fluid Coupling

Smooth start, overload protection, torsional vibration damping – Flender FLUDEX fluid couplings enable torque-limited start-up and have very low slippage at nominal loads. Especially within tough applications, drive components and processing machines are subject to extreme loads. Flender hydrodynamic couplings limit start and maximum torque within the drive train and serve as starting aids for the motor and as overload protection in the case of an incident. Flender hydrodynamic couplings also provide damping and separation of rotary oscillation, thereby reducing restoring forces to a minimum.

Flender hydrodynamic couplings operate according to the Föttinger principle. The coupling parts on the input and output side are not mechanically connected and are therefore wear-free. The torque is transmitted by the fluid movement in the coupling, accelerated by the radial blades. Flender GKG cardan joint coupling

Elastic, double-jointed cardan coupling – Nominal torque range up to TKN = 5,861 Nm with 5 sizes – Temperature range: from –30 °C to +70 °C

Good connections thanks to quality
FLENDER GKG cardan couplings are elastic, double-jointed output couplings used to compensate for primary suspension misalignments in the bogie with full torque transmission between the gear unit and the powered wheel set shaft. Flender railway couplings permit very large shaft displacements and allow major misalignments between the axle and the gear unit while generating only very slight reaction forces.

FLENDER GKG coupling parts can be installed individually on the gear unit and wheel set shaft. The coupling parts come with pre-installed self-calibrated spherical bearings with protected rubber elements. These have a long service life of up to one million kilometers of vehicle travel. By screwing the brackets onto the spherical bearing pins, Flender railway couplings can be installed simply using standard tools. The spacer automatically centers itself.

Flender LBK link coupling

FLENDER LBK connecting rod couplings have a split spacer and can be connected to the gear unit ultra-compactly. Radially arranged rubber elements create two hinge joints, which also make it possible to replace the elastic elements radially beneath the vehicle.

FLENDER LBK connecting rod couplings are driven using self-centering cyclo-palloid gear teeth in the “axle connection” version and flanged to the drive wheel in the “wheel connection” version.

Additionally, we offer the compact Flender railway couplings LBKZ series. In this case, one half of the coupling is a gear coupling which is integrated into the gear unit.

Flender MBG membrane coupling

Two-part, torsionally rigid all-steel coupling – Nominal torque range up to TKN = 9,500 Nm – Temperature range: from –30 °C to +60 °C

FLENDER MBG membrane couplings are two-part, torsionally rigid all-steel couplings with excellent concentricity and outstanding balance quality because they are balanced together with the motor rotor. The concentricity and balance quality are permanently retained thanks to the optimum centering of the gear teeth on the two coupling halves.

Flender railway couplings membrane contour gives them axial yield. The screw fitting makes it possible to detach or connect the motor and gear unit simply without loosening the interference fits. FLENDER MBG couplings are maintenance-free and used to transmit torques and support the motor shaft in the gear unit.

The inside diameter of the rubber disk element is vulcanized on a flange. ELPEX-S couplings are designed as a flange/shaft connection or shaft/shaft connection as standard. The hub can take a taper bush.

The vibration-damping and electrically insulating plug-in BIPEX-S elastomer coupling is almost completely maintenance- and wear-free and has an exceedingly low moment of inertia. It is very compact, suitable for a range of installation requirements to different hub versions, and very easy to install.

The BIPEX-S coupling is made up of two aluminum or steel hubs and a polyurethane cam ring. Different cam ring hardness ratings allow the damping ratio and the torsional stiffness to be varied.

The SIPEX coupling is made up of two aluminum hubs and stainless steel bellows. Its metal bellows compensate for axial, radial and angular misalignments with only low restoring forces.
