- Enhanced Aircraft Flight Recorder 3254F
Consolidate and increase recording power with the 3254F EAFR.
The GE Aviation Model 3254F, Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorder (EAFR) is used to record flight crew audio, parametric flight data, and data link communications. This data is stored in non-volatile crashsurvivable memory located within the EAFR. This data can be retrieved and analyzed in the event of an aircraft mishap. The EAFR has an Underwater Location Beacon (ULB) that transmits acoustic pulses that allow the EAFR to be located and recovered underwater. The ULB is mounted through the chassis to the armored housing of the Crash Protected Memory (CPM) to make sure that the ULB remains with the CPM in the event of a mishap
The EAFR is capable of providing combinations of any or all of the mandatory crash protected recorder functions in a single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU). The EAFR functions include the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) function, the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) function, the Data Link recording function, and Image Recording function growth. The EAFR also provides the Flight Data Acquisition function of collecting the flight data parameters for subsequent storage in the CPM
EAFR Functionality
The EAFR recording capabilities include the following functions: The Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR ) function records parametric flight data from aircraft sensors and systems provided by the Flight Data Acquisition function. The Flight Data Acquisition function resides in
the EAFR and acquires the mandatory flight data recording parameters at the specified rates from the aircraft’s ARINC 664 Part 7 Switched Ethernet data stream. This functionality is hosted inside the EAFR and made possible by the digital architecture of the aircraft and the availability of the data parameters on the aircraft data network interface. The flight data is stored in the Crash Protected Memory in a segregated memory partition separate from the other data types. The DFDR flight data information can be downloaded rapidly on board the aircraft using a high-speed Ethernet interface.
The Cockpit Voice Recorder function records the flight deck communications between crew members and also captures the general acoustical sound environment of the flight deck. The CVR function receives three analog audio crew channels provided by the Flight Deck Audio System and one analog audio channel from the cockpit Area Microphone and Preamplifier (AMP). The cockpit area audio and the three audio crew channels are recorded in both the forward and the aft installed EAFR recorders. The CVR recording duration is two hours minimum. Recorded audio can only be downloaded when the EAFR is off the aircraft.
The Data Link Recorder function is used to record the digital data link messages provided to and from the crew. The Data Link Recorder function receives digital messages from the aircraft air to ground communication system when digital air to ground communication is used. These data link messages are provided by the aircraft’s Communication Management

Military Solutions
GE Aviation is a world-leading provider of military aircraft engines, systems, services and components
Military Engines
From the legendary T700 turboshaft engine and F110 jet engine to the revolutionary Adaptive Cycle Engine (ACE) and T901 turboshaft engine, GE Aviation’s military aircraft engines deliver unprecedented speed, power, fuel efficiency and reduction in costs.
B-52 Re-Engining
CF34-10 and Passport
The U.S. Air Force is re-engining the Boeing B-52H Stratofortress, a timeless warrior for the Air Force since the 1950s. GE has two great engine offerings: the CF34-10 and the Passport engines.
Peace. Protection. Freedom. These essential pillars are what the B-52 has relentlessly guarded for the United States and our allies. For over 60 years, the iconic Stratofortress has been an active symbol of cover and security. Its capabilities have evolved with the mission, from a constant presence in the skies during Cold War-era deterrence, to conventional warfare, to modern-day precision strike, persistence is its profile. This steadfastness shows by the decades of weather on its wings and its unwavering hold in our pride of legacy and determination. And its mission continues. Just as it has adapted to new theaters, munitions, and missions, it must again respond as threats are broader and more varied than ever before.
GE is the only company to have been involved in re-engining U.S. Air Force aircraft three times over. Add in our deep experience powering six strategic bombers, entrenched support of air combat, and the reverence we have for the role we play in protecting this country; and GE is the clear partner to ensure the B-52 is ready at all times for the most critical missions.
This powerhouse will take on whatever is needed to defend democracy and deter enemies. To do this going forward requires its first re-engining, a task as critical as the aircraft itself. With the B-52 entering its next season of sustainment, GE is honored to offer two options to support the U.S. Air Force in its role to maintain U.S. global influence and international order. The lifeline of this aircraft are the engines that power it. The mainstay of our strategic nuclear fleet demands rugged, reliable, and commercially-proven equipment to continue to operate from a position of enduring strength for the foreseeable future.
