Thermal Distillation

IDE is internationally recognized as a pioneer and leader in the delivery of Thermal Distillation plants. IDE's Low Temperature Thermal Distillation units are available in two versions, energy supplied either by a unique, electrically driven, mechanical compressor - (Mechanical Vapor Compression - MVC), or by low pressure steam - (Multi Effect Distillation - MED). These systems are capable of producing boiler feed water from sea water in a single step.

Membrane Desalination

In 2005 IDE completed the construction and start up of the world largest SWRO plant in Ashkelon, Israel, with an annual capacity of 100 Million cubic meters (80 MGD). IDE's Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) plants combine the accumulated know-how and experience that have kept IDE a market leader for the past forty years. Reverse Osmosis desalination plants are used for treating a wide variety of water compositions, be they tap, brackish (BWRO) or sea water (SWRO).

IDE's industrial Zero Level Discharge (ZLD) solutions excel in energy efficiency and are environmentally friendly. IDE applied its vast experience and extensive technological expertise to the development of a unique concentrator for brines containing hard, scale-forming compounds. IDE's Heavy Duty Evaporator (HDE) units are designed for utilities, chemical processes, pulp and paper and other industries.

Refrigeration and Heating

IDE's Refrigeration and Heating products use water vapor as a working medium, and generate man-made Ice / Snow at any ambient temperature. IDE's refrigeration technology offers superior operational efficiency, COP, and low maintenance, due to the fact that heat exchangers are not part of the design.

Desalination of saline water has been in practice for over 40 years and is a well established means of water supply to residential communities, as well as an efficient source of water for agriculture and industrial development in many countries. It is now feasible, technically and economically, to produce large quantities of excellent quality water using desalination processes.

Two main trends in desalination technology have evolved: evaporation and membrane techniques. The selection of a desalination process for a specific application requires consideration of both technical and economic factors. The technical evaluation identifies the feasible processes for each application; the economic evaluation further assists in determining the process of choice.

IDE applied its vast experience and extensive technological expertise in installation of desalination plants and energy-efficient, environmental-friendly water and waste water treatment equipment to the development of a unique concentrator for brines containing hard scale-forming compounds.

IDE's Heavy Duty Evaporator (HDE) units are designed for utilities, chemical processes, pulp and paper and other industries. These units are the cost effective solution for waste water problems, particularly in installations where zero discharge of liquids is required.

IDE offers two types of HDEs:

• Mechanical Vapor Compression Heavy Duty Evaporator (MVC HDE), electrically driven.

• Thermal Vapor Compression Heavy Duty Evaporator (TVC HDE), motivated by low pressure steam.
