KMK Getriebebau was founded 1983 in Kiel. Since then the company is dealing with the design and production of linear drives for automatical winding and spooling of wire, cable, fine wire, textile, glas fibre etc.
Main emphasis of our developments are mechanical gear boxes (KMK Linear Bi-directional Gearboxes LW) used as traverse systems in winding technology.
KMK Gearboxes are used worldwide due to high quality precision, long life time and reliability.
For the last 10 years we have mainly focused our development on automatic winding of different spool shapes.
One of the results is our AW1, enabling a winding process controlled by special Laser sensor. Fields of application of the AW1 are, for example, labor-intensive winding processes and the processing of high quality material.
In addition we developed a Flange Detecting System with Mechanical Sensors avoiding re-adjustment of the stroke.
Due to our long-term and extensive experience in winding technology, we support our customers with competent and detailed advice. In addition we offer CAD-based individual design and engineering services.
Overview of KMK Products
The requirements for mechanical systems have become more and more sophisticated. In competition with electronic wire spooling travers systems today an even higher level of precision and functionality is required.
Our Linear Bi-directional Gearboxes are a further development of the rolling ring drives and particularly suitable for simple, reliable and cost effective spooling traverse of wire, cable, textile fibers, etc., as well as for general drive technology.
The advantages of these favourable mechanical systems are easy installion, robustness, simple operation and low maintenance.
KMK Linear Bi-directional Gearboxes are delivered as single gears for integration into existing systems or as complete drives (with shaft, end brackets, guide bar and end-stops).
