Position Sensors
With its broad offering of ShaevitzTM, Encoder Devices, HL Planartechnik and MEAS position sensors, Measurement Specialties is the world’s largest manufacturer of industrial Linear Displacement Sensors and Rotary Displacement Sensors. The combination of materials and manufacturing techniques used for our Linear Variable Differential Transformer sensors (AC LVDTs and DC LVDTs), Rotary Variable Differential Transformer sensors (AC RVDTs and DC RVDTs), inclinometers, clinometers, tilt sensors and liquid level transducers results in extremely rugged transducers which are capable of functioning during and after severe shock loads and vibration. Magnetic encoders offer breakthrough technology for accurate rotary position sensing in harsh weather or difficult industrial conditions
Magneto Resistive Sensors
Anisotropic Magneto Resistive or AMR sensors offer robust non-contact measurement of changes in the magnetic field as seen by the sensor. This effect allows for the creation of sensors that can detect disturbances ranging from extremely weak fields, as found in traffic detection sensors, to strong field sensors that are used in precision encoders.

DC LVDTs
DC operated Schaevitz™ and MEAS Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) have signal conditioning electronics built into the LVDT and require no calibration or special signal conditioning. Units can be powered with uni- or bi-polar DC voltages and have scaled DC voltage, current or digital outputs. Ranges from +/-0.050” to +/-10.000” are available.

Gageheads
LVDTs with a spring-loaded plunger and bearing assembly (gageheads) that allows for easy installation. The core rod assembly does not need to be attached to the part to be measured making the gagehead an ideal solution for assembly lines and gaging stations. AC, DC and digital output versions are available. Ranges from +/-0.020” to +/-2.000” are available. Linear Inductive Sensors
Our unique LVIT (Linear Variable Inductive Transducer) designs incorporate our proprietary technology and signal-conditioning on a single printed circuit board. With no brushes or wipers to wear, the non-contact, long-life sensor is reconfigured for each OEM, allowing the best possible cost savings. The device is ideal for measuring displacement in the most demanding industrial, automotive and defense applications. Ranges from +-.005” to +-4.000” are available. Custom Ranges are available.

Rotary Displacement Sensors
AC Rotary Sensors
AC operated Rotary Variable Differential Transformers (RVDTs) measure rotary position up to +/-60degs. Like AC LVDT’s they contain no signal conditioning and are therefore chosen for their smaller size and use in hostile environments.

Magnetic Encoders
Measurement Specialties develops innovative custom packaged solutions for rotary sensing applications using magnetic sensing technology. An encoder is a sensing device that translates either linear or rotary motion into a predictable electrical output.
Magnetic encoder technology has shown to be superior to existing optical encoder technology in areas of:
- Temperature range
- Contamination resistance
- Operational life
- Shock and vibration
- Critical assembly operations
- Cost

Tilt Sensors and Inclinometers
Single Axis Tilt Sensors (Inclinometers)
Measurement Specialties' single axis tilt sensors, inclinometers, and clinometers incorporate a fluid filled capacitance based technology to measure inclination up to ±60º. The sensors have no moving parts, making them extremely rugged and reliable.
Dual Axis Tilt Sensors (Inclinometers)
Measurement Specialties' dual axis tilt sensors, inclinometers, and clinometers use fluid filled capacitance technology to measure +/- 20deg inclination in both the X and Y axis. The simple sensing element provides a low cost dual axis tilt solution
