Cable Jointing Kits

SED design and manufacture not only an extensive range of LV Cable Joint Kits for the UK distribution network operators (DNO's) and contractors but also product for a number of specialist cables eg. multi-core industrial and V0 hazardous area cables (petro-chemical/mining etc).

All our cable joints are designed to meet the requirements of BS EN50393.

We can also offer an extensive range of cable joint shells (horizontally split) in both a high impact polystyrene (HIPS) and ABS materials manufactured as a vacuum formed and/or injection moulded product to suit a large range of LV/MV underground cables

• Cable Joint Shells

New Sicame UK universal heat shrink joints are designed for the in-line jointing of 3-core SWA PILC and 3-core SWA Polymeric cables with either stranded/solid, aluminium/copper cable cores

• LV Service Joints

A comprehensive range of in-line connectors designed to joint all types of service cable cores (stranded/solid, circular/sector, aluminium/copper) from 4mm² to 35mm²

• LV Mains/Service Joints

This complete range of product allows for the in-line jointing of a full range of LV cable cores with, in the majority of the range, the ability to joint in one or two services. The majority of these mechanical connectors come complete with either a flexible dip moulded shroud or 'snap on' polypropylene shroud for insulation purposes

• LV Mains Straight and Branch Joints

This complete range of product allows for the in-line jointing of a full range of LV cable cores with, in the majority of the range, the ability to joint in one or two services. The majority of these mechanical connectors come complete with either a flexible dip moulded shroud or 'snap on' polypropylene shroud for insulation purposes

SED offers a wide range of mechanical lugs for the termination of a wide range of different cable cores with typically 'off set' pads for connection to bus-bar, studs etc

The 'MFS18' range of mechanical connectors utilises the patented 'universal' range taking shear bolts and comes complete with core stripping guides

ME35, 50, 120, 185 & 400

The ME..... range of kits provide the end user with a quick and reliable connection onto the lead sheath of a range of PILC cables. The profiled copper alloy 'saddle' sits firmly on the lead sheath, using knitted wire tape as the interface with the assembly held firmly in place using a stainless steel worm drive clip

The ME(T)..... range of kits provide the end user with a quick and reliable connection onto the lead sheath of a range of PILC cables

• Armour Bonding

The 'Hepworth' armour bonding system is a mechanical method for the provision of electrical continuity across joints using either steel tape or steel wire armours (SWA) cables.

Tension Strap System

The armour bonding systems were developed in collaboration with the United Kingdom electricity supply industry to provide adequate electrical continuity across joints in metallic armoured cables

• Cable Jointing Tools

An extensive selection of jointing tools for a variety of functions to assist the jointer during the cable jointing process including core separators, hack-knives etc

• Shear Screw Tooling

Tooling for use with the SED Mk1 universal multi-shear screw system ensuring that it provides a quick reliable connection onto the cable core whilst shearing flush with the body of the connector. Sockets can be provided to suit both the 17mm AF hexagon and ½" sq. drive as well as the complete insulated or un-insulated ratchet spanner
