The loss-in-weight feeder is made of an extracting device and an hopper, both weighed by a load cell weighing platform. The product can be liquid or solid. The microprocessor based unit Microtech 2104 measures the instantaneous rate by checking the change of the weight on a time basis. The instantaneous rate is maintained constantly equal to the set-point by regulating the speed of the extraction device through instrument the control output. When the product inside the hopper reaches the minimum level it is automatically refilled; during the refill time the rate signal is hold at the last value, while the actual control output changes in proportion to the set-point. The electronic unit, controlling through digital inputs and outputs the extraction device start and stop, is also able to prepare batches on quantity basis.
