C-LEVEL is a system able to measure in continuous way liquids or bulk solids level in tanks, bins and vessels substained by metallic structures.
The system is composed by one or more GZ-1 strain-gauge sensors installed into holes made on bin’s support structure (see illustrations for details). Sensors transmit a signal proportional to structure deformation to a microprocessor acquisition and display unit. This may be a CL-100 indicator - specifically designed for this application - or a series MINI or Microtech-2000 weight indicator/transmitter.
The installation is particularly simple and fast : every sensor is supplied with a proper installation kit and a junction box. Moreover, system can be installed on existing structures, without particular modifications (bin hightening, horizontal constraints, anti-turnover stay rods, etc.).
Depending on structure characteristics and depending on accuracy required 1 to 8 sensors can be installed.
Differently from other devices available on the market, GZ-1 sensor is installed into metallic structure becoming part of it. That increases accuracy and reduces the effect of temperature changes. Moreover - thanks to its cylindrical shape - the sensor provides a measurement of deformation in two directions, avoiding the need to use two sensors on the same metallic structure.
CL-100 electronic unit displays material level on a 50 LEDs bar graph. The instrument is provided with a built-in-test which verifies sensors correct working and a non-volatile memory able to maintain configuration in case of power loss. Calibration and setting of two alarm thresholds (hi/low level) are performed very simply with two keys on front panel. Thanks to the compensation of voltage drop on connecting cable the instrument can be installed to a maximum distance of 300 m from sensors. A current output (0÷20 o 4÷20 mA) can be provided, to connect the instrument to external devices.
The system is the ideal solution for all the applications in which material characteristics (corrosive, dusty, abrasive, etc.) do not allow installation of instruments inside the tank. Another advantage is measurement independance from incrustations and material building-up.
It finds application in siderurgical, chemical, food and cement industries, carbon manufacturing and storing plants fields.
